The Real Reason Barack Housein Obama Should Not Be President ..
To my beloved followers. I said that I would no longer publish political material on the Hub Pages for the reasons I mentioned. I now have my own blog site which allows me to put it out with no filters. I've decided to post my work at both locations. The Hub Pages will get the G version. The R version can be found at the new site connected to The Housefire Project web site. It's win, win, just the way The Man With No Pants likes It. Try and make it to the Tea Party of America Mega Rally in Iowa July 30th. I will be taking the stage first, speaking, and throwing red meat to the crowd, making sure everyone is jazzed, and has the proper No Pants attitude. As an added bonus, you'll get to see and hear all the presidential hopefuls. CNN, Fox,and all the others will be covering it, so we're hoping to give em something groovy to report on. The founder is a friend of ours here on the hub. Mr. Ken Crow and his group have put this together, and it's going to be awesome. Hope to see you there!
Introduction
Conservative writers tend to write for one another. I imagine it works that way with liberal writers as well. I’m not sure. I don’t get over there much. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that we write for those who already agree with us. We have a tendency to write great sermons for the choir. I guess it plays a role in galvanizing “the cause,” but I believe that the law of diminishing return sets in quickly. Getting support from those who share your beliefs feels good, and it’s humans’ nature to seek and find approval. Who doesn’t enjoy praise or a good old fashioned “Atta boy?” I just question how much mileage we’re getting out of our hard work. Do we actually change any one’s mind that’s on the fence, or do we mark our success by the number of “high fives” we get? Having said all of that, and considering the fact that I have an ego which requires gallons of nuclear fuel daily, I would probably shoot myself without my loyal followers. I would not be here without them.
I’m attempting to write this little number, not from a conservative position, or a liberal position, but rather from the position of a person who’s concerned and honestly wants what’s best for my country. Again, I offer what I think is common sense and reality. You be the judge.
If you are a liberal and believe that our President is doing a pretty darn good job, there is nothing I can say that will make one damned bit of difference. I can, and have taken, his policies line by line and proven failure. I can ask you to give me three areas where he has performed as well as a pathetic George W. Bush, and anything you come up with past two, I’ll shoot so full of holes you can read a newspaper through them. However, no matter how deep I bury you, you’ll find a way to push a straw through the dirt and draw a breath of air. You are like that mother we’ve all seen on the evening news being interviewed by Chanel 6 News. She just found out that her son had murdered twelve nuns and was wearing one of their habits when he was finally caught. She looks sweetly into the camera and says, “He really is a good boy, people just never understood him.” If she’s that far gone, you’re wasting your time trying to convince her that her kid’s got some issues. Such is the case with you. Just go put a shine on that Volvo and feel good about yourself. I’m not writing to you.
I’m writing to the liberal who says, “My faith in Mr. Obama is getting just a tad shaky .. I was kind of under the impression that things weren’t going to suck quite so bad at this point in time.” I’m writing this to you, because your liberal constituents will call you a trader if you express any uncertainty about our president to them. On the other hand, my conservative constituents will want to put a rope around your neck just because you think that helping a few bums won't kill anybody. Maybe you don’t think government should be huge, but think it’s cool if it’s a little bigger than we do .. that makes you a freaking communist who should be hung. How sick. On the other hand, if I don’t want the government to raise taxes on a nation of people who’s already out of work and losing their homes, the far left wants to hang me for wanting to shove granny off the cliff or something. If I say I don’t want to take away, or restructure, the things us tax payers have already paid for, called entitlements, my own side wants to hang me. Suppose I say, as I often do, “Let’s address Economic Terrorism!" "Let's stop the 1 trillion dollar loss of tax payers hard earned money from our 3.5 trillion dollar budget .. money that we throw away on waste and fraud each year." Then we wouldn't have to raise taxes or take away entitlements! Oops! Now both sides just look at me funny for a minute, and then start going for their rope.
Where the hell are smart conservatives and smart liberals supposed to go in order to balance one another out and solve problems? Funny I should ask, because that’s exactly what my political nonprofit is all about. It’s called, The Housefire Project, and we’re looking for six million patriotic Americans with brains, and we don’t care what flavor of ice cream you like. Those who know me, had a feeling that was coming sooner or later. http://housefireproject.com/
And now, the subject of this piece..
“Do you solemnly swear that you will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that you will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that you take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that you will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which you are about to enter: So help you God?”
Swear: to make a solemn declaration or affirmation by some sacred being or object, as a deity or the Bible
Hmmm .. Let’s see now. It seems that our President, Vice President, and all his pals in the House and Senate have to swear to this little ditty.
Hears my question ..
Does this oath imply that our government, led by our Commander and Chief, is responsible for sorta protecting us against our enemies both foreign and domestic? Does it say .. “Do you solemnly swear to at least take a good swing at protecting us from our enemies both foreign and domestic. If it does, I’m dead in the water here and extremely embarrassed. I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that you agree with me; I’m going to hope you agree with me that these suits are supposed to protect us from our enemies’ period, end of discussion.
Our President has decided to sue us here in Arizona, because we’re being invaded from the south down here and we’re trying to do something he won’t do, and that’s to secure our border. Yes, Mexican drug cartels armed with state of the art weapons (courtesy of our own government) are killing innocent Americans on our own soil. Ten thousand illegals are breaching the border daily Mr. President. Our infrastructure is being destroyed and when you combine that with this “growing economy” of yours, we’re getting murdered down here. Thanks for the lawsuit. We love you too. By the way, did you know that some of our other enemies, from you know where, are over there setting up? Did you think they were stupid? Tell you the truth, I can’t tell the difference between a pickup truck full of Hispanics and a pickup truck full of Yemenites. Can you Mr. President?
Okay, I’ll quit with the sarcasm. Let’s watch the video, and analyze what we see and hear; then we’ll continue. Don't skip this video. Crap, it's like 30 seconds, and you have to watch it to make anything else work. You've come this far .. just do it !
I’m sorry. I’m going to cut this short. Every time I watch this I get furious and cannot be objective. For once I’m going to let you analyze this video against the oath that our president swore to. What kind of person would say this to the people of a state or states that are literally being ruined by illegal immigration? What I’m getting to is this; If I’m right in my summation, President Obama does not care about us down here in the border states. The attitude he shows here demonstrates his true colors, and makes, what I believe, a very compelling case for this. He doesn’t feel compelled to do whatever it takes to protect us from a foreign enemy. If he’ll turn his back on us here in Arizona, he’ll turn his back on you in Utah, or Oregon, or Missouri, or whatever state you call home in these United States. Yes, I am biased. I’m in the center of this. The next time it may be you though. Whether you’re a democrat, a republican, or an independent, you have to ask yourself a serious question; “Does President Obama have the character needed to uphold the constitution of the United States? Does he have the will to protect us against a foreign threat when that threat is our neighbor, and brings divided public opinions into the equation?” If you voted for Obama, put down your defenses. You don’t need them here. Just be silent and think it over. That little 30 sec clip illustrates something we keep seeing from this president time and time again. It shows an aloofness, an arrogance or detachment, and a genuine lack of concern for for those he was elected to serve. Before you leave this piece, play it (the video) one more time. I think you'll come to the same conclusion that I did. This is the real reason Barack H. Obama should not be president. I don’t have a replacement in mind yet. The election is still a long ways off. I’m just asking you to do some thinking; I’ll continue to do the same. Say your prayers, eat all your veggies, and don’t forget to tell someone you love them.

Me too, me too. And, growth is good! Okay, the video pissed me and my husband both off, and I just listened to him rant pretty good about our current POTUS. We're not fans.
Well, he burned me out in 2008, to be honest with you, and I've fallen into the same apathy as most of the American public has been in for years. Coming up on 2012 though, I'm taking back my voice and my right to do whatever I can to make it better. I'm done with the bullsh1+ I guess.
Jim, I knew you couldn't resist writing a political hub, and I for one, am glad! You really nailed it when you asked about character. Unfortunately, more people say size matters and not enough say character matters.
I am horribly disappointed... you didn't mention Wisconsin or California... How could you not!
Just kidding... once again... you hit the nail on the head... although I will admit, while I knew stuff was going down in Arizona - I didn't realize it was that bad. Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to watch the video right now because I don't have my headphones around and I will get dirty looks if I disrupt TV viewing. I will come back again, vote it up again, and watch the video!!
Rock on!
UGH - BS - Video - are you f'ing kidding me. Errrrr
BTW - how come you just linked it. If you put a video capsule in there people won't navigate away from your hub to watch it... they can watch it right in your hub! Just a thought.
You are very welcome... I just noticed that it took you away from the hub... and then if people are like me they get easily dis....
oh yeah, and then I came over here and I was singing up up up, vote the hub up... all to the tune of Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash! ha ha ha
Jim, love the Hub, but I gotta tell ya, I love that video, too. No irritation at all.
Why? Because his "moats with alligators" line is going to haunt him every single day of the 2012 Presidential campaign. Were I managing the Republican candidate's attack ads, the OPENING OF EVERY AD would show FIMM (Foot-In-Mouth Man), "...they're gonna want a moat...alligators in it".
Then cut away to the next punch. Mere seconds to air, an image you can't forget--dude, this could turn out to be Obama's greatest gift to the Restoration of America ever! LOL!
jim - He'll throw anyone, or anything, under the bus to achieve his agenda. He's proven that over and over again. Not sure why anyone fails to see that. If they see it and think that is fine then it gives me pause. That is blind loyalty and is dangerous.
A case in point is now Indiana. Daniels is prohibiting Medicaid money from being sent to Planned Parenthood. Now they're threatening to not give Indiana there share of Medicaid. They went even further though and wrote the other 49 states and issued them a thinly veiled threat not to follow Indiana's new law or suffer the same fate.
That has been going on for years. The federal government taxes anything and everything that moves and then uses that money to blackmail the states into doing its will. If you don't do this you won't get this type of thing. That is not what the founding fathers saw it. That is a form of what King George was doing to them.
We're in deep with Obama because that's the way he sees the role of the federal government - the central planner. This nation isn't all about central planning and never should be. That's the progressive way of doing business and has failed all across the world so he wants to see if he can make it work here?
We're seeing the results. We stated jim.
The Frog
Jim, I won't tell you this was a great hub, because you already know it is.
Anthony Weiner just resigned because he got caught lying to the press and the American people. I would imagine anyone in Mexico who saw the Presidents speech from El Paso on border security is still laughing their A$$ off. Our President is either horribly misinformed, or pulling a Weiner, and just flat lying to all of us. I would be sure that at least a few in the MSM are smart enough to know they just got lied to, but they said nothing. Had they been as outraged as they were when Weiner lied to them, perhaps our President would be considering resigning after being caught in his big lie?
Yes, we did increase the size of the border patrol. Then we put major restrictions on how they can do their jobs. Rubber bullets and bean bags in their weapons when pursuing heavily armed drug cartel guys. If they defend themselves when large gangs of illegals are throwing huge rocks and boulders at them, they may just find themselves in one of our prisons. No, it is not the rock throwers going to prison, it is the Border Patrol Agents. Something is bad wrong with this picture. But, the Feds decided to sue us in Arizona for trying to do something they won't do, and that is to secure our borders.
Your point is well made in this hub. We have major issues facing this country that affect all citizens regardless of whether they lean left, right, or center. Anything that can be done to get a united effort in resolving some of these problems are what has to happen. Your Housefire Project may be the first step needed to make this start happening.
Your hub is great but I find myself overwhelmingly depressed. The position of POTUS is so awesome, such an honor, so prestigious and this man is standing there as POTUS and lying about border patrol while filing lawsuite against citizens desperately trying to stay safe. He has made a mockery of the presidency and made a fool of America throughout the world. That is just so discouraging.
Straightforward, honest, to the point, and FAIR. Fair is an important word here. Because I think that's where most die-hard liberals, and YES, die-hard conservatives fail. In the area of FAIRNESS. I am a conservative. I vote republican. Admittedly, I have tossed a few bucks here and there at the RNC, and they even gave me a fancy Republican National Committee card to carry around in my wallet—for what who knows, but it was there in any event...
Might I only throw in for good measure that that card is currently expired and that I have not sent a dime to my beloved republican party for quite some time because, guess what? THERE ARE NO CONSERVATIVES in my party anymore. Yes, I can admit to that too. But don't let me get away from myself here.
On both sides I think it's important to be able to cut through the tons of rhetoric that both sides spew, and get to the heart of the things that really matter. I think it's important to be able to admit when even OUR side gets it wrong. And we do. Less than they (the liberals) do, by MY count I'll grant you, but I can bet you that I (like you) can measure that with substantive fact. But the point is that we DO get it wrong, and so long as I am sensible I can point that out, admit to it, and even scream bloody murder about it. I won't defend what I think is wrong no matter WHAT badge anyone wears. The die hards cannot do that. They are simply bound by THEIR GUY. With Obama, for some odd reason, the die hards seem harder to die for their guy than any other guy I can think of in history. There IS something weird about that, and I think while I applaud you for attempting to reach out to those former die hards who are feeling a bit uneasy about THEIR GUY of late, I think that there are honestly VERY few of those guys out there. Who was it that once said, "You can't fix crazy?" These guys are, as that poor, poor mother you mentioned, just too far gone.
What I saw in this hub was that you were fair. I know I said that before, but I think it's worth repeating. There was nothing in your talking points that I could find that was mean-spirited, wholly ideologically driven, based on the COLOR of this president, and I don't recall you even uttering the word "democrat." In fact, I don't think you uttered the word "republican" either. You used words like "our country," "the people," and "Americans."
If the country votes to reelect President Obama in the next cylce it is going to cause me to seriously question not just the direction of this country, but the direction of the PEOPLE of this country. Because I just can't see anyone with half a mind left being able to find anything positive in this guy's plan for America. Do you want to know that if former President Clinton came onto the scene right this minute to challenge Barack Obama I would put him in office? Do you want to know that if it was between Mitt Romney and Bill Clinton, I would put Bill Clinton into office? I won't get into the why of that point, but let me just say that it might have something to do with the lack of real conservatism, and my thinking that for all Bill's faults (and taunts, let's be serious here), he had a better plan for America than John McCain would have, that Mitt Romney does, and CERTAINLY than Barack Obama does...'nuff said.
This is becoming more of a rant than a comment so I will put it to rest and simply close by saying I enjoyed the hub and think I will have to take a look at this Housefire Project. Sounds interesting. Hmm. Americans with brains? We'll find out in 2012 won't we?
Springboard, in your comment you just stated everything I have been thinking, but could never put into words. Jim, the writer of this hub, just happens to be my friend and neighbor. Jim is very dedicated to the cause of exactly what you described. Fair is fair, and we all need to let our party affiliations cards expire, and just start looking at fair.
I truly suspect if we look hard at some major issues facing our country, we are not that far apart regardless of how far left or right someone leans.
Great Hub, and I liked the link to the Video. This looks like one that folks should Remember in November 2012.
The video angered me, not so much because of the the alligators in the moat comment, but because of the attitude presented. I personally think less of any person who tries to tell me what I think, or tries to tell me what others think, or who tries to tell me what others will feel. To me that is an indication of an elitist attitude driven by a superiority complex, and is conflict with the fundamental notion that representatives of our government seek to understand and try to reach viable mutually agreeable solutions. To say 'THEY will never be satisfied' is an indicator to me that there is a lack of understanding of perpsectives and no desire to reach compromise.
But, that's just me and how I feel.
Great debate - The time for the extremists from both sides to be put to pasture.... the old rules (globally) no longer work. Back To Zero is where mankind needs to go... and using what we learned from the mess we created maybe we could build a new man from the inside out!
Cheers mate
Well Jim, I have to admit that you have me rethinking the immigration issue. I guess up here in the northeast we are just not aware of the magnitude of the problem.
I did a little bit (I'll do more as time permits) of research on the issue and what I found is that Obama has been putting more boots on the ground on the border and has increased the number of deportations dramatically. But, I can see that it's not enough and that it would be easy to suspect him of just putting on a show for politics sake.
The clip you posted is unfortunate. I can see that if I were president and honestly believed that I was doing more than my predecessors on the issue and was met with some of the quotes I've seen in my research from his political opponents that I might give into sarcasm too. As one sarcastic guy to another... you have to admit the possibility yourself right? However, to be sarcastic in the backyards of people with such a dramatic problem does show a lack of sensitivity and a lack of understanding of the issue.
I do have to put some blame on professional conservatives. The way it should work in an ideal world is that the loyal opposition says something like "Mr. President, I see that you've made a start towards dealing with the issue, but this is how much more is needed." but instead what the guy gets is the constant opposition of absolutely everything that he tries to do good or bad, with a view to the next election in mind. I don't know how many of you remember when he got elected and the Republican leader of the Senate Minority vowed not to cooperate on anything, that his entire strategy was going to be about Republican victory in the next election rather than getting the peoples work done. And.. there is a political promise that was kept. So... I can't say it's all just Obama's fault.
As to his suing Arizona. This requires greater thought on my part too. This is where my own idealism gets in the way. I tend to put freedom first and foremost. If I had a slightly browner skin, spoke Spanish and was born and raised an American Citizen, I might be a bit pissed off if cops could investigate me just because I wasn't an anglo and could demand to see my papers... event though as a citizen I'm not required to have any. And that's the way your law reads to us up here in the northeast.. but... I do think that you folks have a better read on the problem and that I need to rethink.
Bob
While responding to another hub, something clicked in my brain. My brain may have wandered out into never-never land, and if so, oh well.
We face a situation where farmers have crops that need to be picked or they will rot in the fields and never make it to our tables. If the crops rot, the farmer makes no money, and we have nothing to eat. Now let's be honest, few of our 9% unemployed are willing to take these jobs when they have unemployment and other entitlements coming to them. Would I want to work 14 hours per day in a field where the temperature is in excess of 100 degrees for slave wages? Not no but hell no.
I'm sure our government realizes the serious implications of not getting these crops picked and to the market. Could it be possible they turn a blind eye to illegal immigration to avoid this problem? Would it not be easier to draft a guest worker program that would be efficient and easily monitored? Here in Arizona we are mandated by law to use the Federal E-verify system, and I like it. But I have yet to hear of any employers who have been fined or otherwise punished for hiring illegals. E-verify is a great program, it is free and easy to use. Why have other states not made the use of E-Verify mandatory? Could it possibly be they need this illegal labor pool to get the job done?
No, I am not inventing a new conspiracy theory, just trying to make sense of all the lies being told about how great our border security is now. Our Arizona border is nearly wide open and most of it is not fenced, regardless of what President Obama said in El Paso.
Old Poolman, thanks for the comment regarding the comment. I just think we play too much partisan politics these days, and in that we lose focus on the real issues of the day. When we play partisan politics, we also close our ears to what's really being said and by whom. We shut out the speak of those who wear badges we don't like, and sometimes, SOMETIMES they really do have something to say, something to offer, and may have something to offer that is better than even "our" guy. I'm willing to play fair myself and listen, because I think the state of our country is in serious jeopardy, and the next guy needs to really be the right guy this time. It wasn't Bush to be quite frank. It wasn't John McCain. My God, it CANNOT be Romney. And it is NOT Obama. So we've got some serious, serious work ahead of us right now to figure this thing out or this country is on it's wheezing, dying breaths. I mean that quite seriously. We're in trouble.
I noticed while watching an interview by Ann Curry, Obama, when questioned by Ann regarding unemployment, he mentioned new graduates and middle-aged Americans needing to stay educated so they will be able to get new jobs. The old jobs that are gone ain't coming back. Not once did he mention those people close to retirement. It appears we no longer count as he did not address the baby boomers, the largest segment of the populace. I believe what I heard an economist say about a year ago, when I was laid off, that the older victims of the economy will, more than likely, never work again. Obama's message did not even address the boomers. We no longer matter. Although, I gave every job I ever worked more than due diligence, I can look forward to old age being destitute. It looks like eventually, according to what I understand in AARP concessions, for the first time ever, Social Security will be impacted. It seems things are going from bad to worse.
I agree with Springboard and have thought for a long time, one of your most impressive qualities, Jim, is your fair, unbiased approach to everything you do. You give credit where its due and pull no punches in the truth. You are the man! Your article is very motivational, inspiring and gives hope where, otherwise, there is little to be found.
I'll do my best. Coffee helps. :)
Thanks for the invite Jim,
I'd love to accept, I spent a week in the southwest once and it was the best vacation I ever had.If I end up with the money to retire anywhere on Earth that I want to, it would probably be Arizona. However, these days I don't have the money to pay for gas for the drive to the airport, let alone the plane ticket ha ha ha.
Bob
You did a great job here and you certainly had my attention. I actually didn't know for sure that Obama was really going to sue Arizona. Amy's got some great points too in her comment. Obama and his education spiel make me want to puke. I graduated college and worked 50 hours a week to make what I made before college at 25 hours a week as a waitress or bartender. The value of education has decreased significantly- its as if Obama's speeches and intentions do not match the current economic and national issues atmosphere. Like he's on another planet called denial. You brought your point home to me and hopefully to someone else on the fence.
The border is no joke. We actually have numerous illegals up in Oregon. My mom has by the strongest argument against illegal immigration and that's the medical issues. They get treated and never pay bills. She was a medical assistant and has stories to tell about the illegals who would come in with parasites (you know how I hate those suckers) and illnesses that havent been seen in our areas in a long time. I'm a germ freak and it gets to me that Mexicans can cross over without getting necessary immunizations, check-ups, etc. Why isn't our government in Mexico trying to make it a better place for them to live- we're everywhere else?
Hey Iz,
Don't you think your education has some value above and beyond the money that it may or may not bring in?
Bob
Izettl, I wondered about the influx of disease from a country where the illnesses are different than here. We have school policies that are stringent about vaccinations to protect all the children. I wonder how that is handled or even addressed with youngsters. I don't know if illegal immigrants have little ones in the public schools or how that is handled. Thank you for bringing that question to the forefront with your mom having had life experiences with the real complications involving health. I attended a "forced" volunteer situation at St. Patrick's Center in STL, where the boss gave us no choice in "volunteering". We were supposed to help teach the homeless to read, etc. They had no idea what a huge undertaking that was and the whole project was ill conceived, mainly for kudos for local employers that participated. I spent the whole morning watching one of the "students" swatting the bugs that were jumping from his hair. I got a doctor's note and only then was begrudgingly excused from duty. I told the Prez's assistant, his mother-in-law, when she approached me disgusted that I wasn't volunteering anymore, that I did a great job at what I was paid to do. Volunteering is not a mandatory event, but rather an endeavor the individual should choose for themselves. That project disbanded shortly after because everyone felt as I did, but were too afraid to speak up. I imagine, ultimately, the Prez figured there might be legal implications if someone got sick or got "lice" from an activity the boss made mandatory.
When Obama mocked those who want our borders controlled, what he didn't realize was that he was mocking the majority of Americans.
Amen, Will. I'm about done with Afghanistan. Personally, I want to bring all those men and women home to their families, work on getting everyone back to work, and DEFEND OUR BORDERS. I'm done with all the other bull - and that's how I felt when I watched that video - mocked. And I live in Chicago.
I'm at a loss to understand why our current administration chooses to make a joke of border security. Could it be that for reasons unknown to us they really don't want secure borders? I have my own theory on that subject and will be looking into it in depth. I would bring all our troops home and show the world what a secure border looks like.
Obama's elitist smirks, sneers, and mockeries are aimed at ordinary Americans...you know...those hicks out there, with their Bibles and guns.
Amy~ that would defnitely have serious implications if you got something from one of the homeless. I have never heard of the mandatory volunteering. So many companies 'bully' their employees to do things without thinking of the consequences. I was in Human Resources and I saw this all the time.
Jim~ Of course I'd stop by, but you know I'm on toddler time (when toddler gives me time-lol). When my mom told me all the things she saw with some of the illegals I saw no argument for illegal immigration. They must get health checks. Many Americans are not immune or used to the types of illnesses in other countries so it's truly important. There's not one person that can argue that point. many of their kids that attend public schools are skippnig the mandatory vaccines because they are from another country and we can't push their 'rights'. We have many Russians in our area and none of them get vaccines. So we have measles, etc break outs from time to time.
FIS Bob~ I'm still searching for the value, sadly. Here's the deal. I'm a book learner and with or without having gone to college, I can teach myself pretty much anything from a book. I am the type that does wonderfully in college because I learn well from books. I read every book in the library about psychology before I actually majored in that in college so I knew everything already. I learned a lot about business- my minor in college, because I had never read anything about it before.
Whatever I have learned in college or from books has never compared to life experiences. I know more about psychology from being a waitress than from any book.
I think vocational and technical schools, even apprenticeships are winners now. Hands-on learning is far superior to any book and theory learning that most colleges focus on.
Hi Jim! I think a lot of people were looking for change a few years back. Just a different type of change. Your hub is brilliant in that it is humorous and serious - giving real thinkers something to ponder, as well as those that like the President as a person but not the direction the country is moving towards. Bravo!
Like Ronald Reagan, I was a liberal before I became a conservative.
The town I live in has the nicname of Monexico. There are many immigrants here from Mexico. I suppose the 'white and nerdy' folks have a problem with this. Hell, the Mexicans are willing to do the jobs no 'self respecting' pampered white person is willing to do. I'm a white person, I'm building my own house, and I grew up on a farm doing hard labor, and I'm not willing to do some of the stuff these folks are willing to do.
Sir Jim, my question for a while has been, why are we as a country, making it so difficult for those from other countries to legally immigrate to America? Like young poolman was saying, these folks will do jobs the unemployment entitled Americans won't do. Why are we making it necessary for these folks to feel they have to sneak over the border?
I agree with Izettl that it would make sense to "fix" their country so they would want to stay there and feel like they have a future worth having there. At this point in time, I don't see anyone jumping through hoops to make this happen. I realize the rubbics cube is really screwed up and no one quite knows how to get all the pieces swirled around so it is 'right' again. Perhaps we need to take the cube apart and start over.
I read an article the other day about how we are educating the world and then not letting them stay here to make our country better, so these folks, who would rather stay here and start businesses, have to go back to their own countries and start businesses there. Wouldn't it be enlightened self interest for us to let them stay here and create jobs? Oh well.
There are so many wonderful comments to this wonderful hub. It is time the power elite were sent packing, no matter what end of the spectrum they are on. "They" have no desire to see the 'little guy' do anything but struggle. "They" want to make sure we don't understand what is at stake. "They" don't want us to wake up and take back 'our' country.
It is time that the people started practicing a concept called self government. If we started taking responsibility for our selves and our country and the descisions we have made along the way and owned up to the consequenses of those descisions, we just might not need the power elite to run the country for us. Run it into the ground, that is.
It seems to me that the vast majority of Americans have risen above this dualistic idea of left and right political crap. It is time we told those that are supposedly in charge that we are done with their level of awareness. That we have a higher level of awareness and if they aren't willing to grow up and start helping everyone become more, they can leave the offices they hold and leave use alone to run the country the way we see fit.
It all comes down to freedom. Do we really qualify for the freedoms we have? We are starting to come back to the 'middle way' so that we will qualify for them.
Who'da thunk that a guy who calls himself "The Man With No Pants" would be such a thinker as well. I can't believe the comments on this really great hub, Jim. You can see you've put A LOT of thought into this issue, and it's great because it's pushing my buttons as well. This hub was great, the discussion in the comments has been awesome!
Great job on this hub. When I look at the state of our union I cringe. The federal government suing states for trying to stop an invasion! Obama is tearing the fabric of our country to shreds and if we allow this to go on much longer there will never be a way to put it back together again. Rated up useful and awesome.
Shhhhh.....don't tell anyone. I don't want it to be known that I actually just want what's best for my country! ;-)
Jim
My opinion is that the system is broken, and until there is a fix for the system, it doesn't matter who is elected.
Simple but long term solution. It requires more intelligence than has been shown to exist in the modern day voters.
Vote out out all incumbents that failed to accomplish anything for the people. especially if they failed to meet their last election's promises. Don't let incumbents nest as they do now. We don't need term limits if we vote out the non performing.
It would take several elections for the candidates and the parties to get the picture that they can only get into office, and stay if they perform for US and no one else.
The message for the politicians is that we want a Congress and a President that can work together to accomplish things for the people. Passing legislation and sponsoring Bills is not an accomplishment unless they really accomplish something useful for the people.
The candidates would no longer have to be the lap dogs of their party, they will be the lapdogs of the people.
Now, my caveat is where do we find enough intelligent voters to get behind this solution.

HI Jim, I'm actually just going to go ahead and say screw it to all the people who "claim" to love this country and STAND UP for what it stand for and start making my political hubs, and if people don't like it, they too can LOVE IT help fix it OR just get the fuck out. I heard a young guy say the other day, he was signing up so he could get a house with no down payment if he served his 2 years. I flat out told him, GREAT, I hope you get that, and I also hope you get called to war so you can earn it! Needless to say he hung his head and walked off LOL!
I like the fact you have people on your page here with longer than a 1 sentence attention span!
For one thing I noticed that people think that we got this way in A DAY. So therefore, we can FIX IT in a DAY. They have NO use, tolerance, patience, attention OR CARE about history and WHY things are like they are. duh?
If you don't know history, how can you NOT LET IT REPEAT ITSELF? (Rhetorical of course, because I know you know)
When you toss in those "Quacks".. I'll get it lol, and I'll also get it on grounds that most of the readers won't get it. Hey it'll give me a chuckle anyway huh! :)
LOVE your pic.. ok, background items ::ahem:: I think I should say!
Just for a tidbit on Obama, the hub I'm putting the work into is about his repeating history, AND MOCKING us as he does. ALL of us are NOT that stupid, and I can PROUDLY SAY, I DID NOT VOTE FOR HIM, (he didn't win by a landslide either) AND I WILL NOT in the upcoming election either. -Peace
Hey you! Shyness was my cover!! You blew it! LOL.. :) There's something pumping through my veins, my Dr. said it was 99% cholesterol and 1% sarcasm. I said "HEY, what about the other 200%. He wrote me a script said "take 2 call me in the morning" LOL! Check out my latest vid when ya get a chance, you'll rethink that shyness! :) WARNING: Laughing too much could cause undue butt rants! hehe.. :)
Jim
Looking forward to some good Quacks
Infuriated...is there a stronger word to use than this...after watching the video, my brain is boiling. As I have just moved and been off the "telly" for a bit, this additional news and the sarcasm spouting as to the lack of security for our borders is good grief, I am unable to find the words distasteful enough for how I feel...Excellent hub. Simply excellent.
I have a little to add to yours and W.B's discussion. There was a time when the American youngin's looking for their first job were doing these laborous or "degrading" jobs that supposedly no Americans want. Parents I believe got off track and have created generations of kids who won't do any dirty or low paying jobs. This has been written up in several articles about the younger generations going with the flow and doing whatever strikes their fancy. When I started out in the work force, I was a busser at a restaurant- nothing fancy. THe boys I knew did the laborous jobs- that's how it worked. Not anymore and I'm not sure if because they don't have to because the Mexicans are filling that void or they stopped doing, then the Mexicans began to fill that void, but it's all screwy now.
Also, college educations have significnatly increased since about the 60's/ 70's, steadily increasing. The two caveats to that is Americans are spending a lot of money and going into debt (for education)so that when they get out of college, they can't afford to be working in the lower paid jobs- I know, I was there at one time. You spend $50,000+ on college and the hype was spewed at you about how you'll get this better job and higher pay, but it's not true. Most Americans' unemployment checks are more than checks would be working for a lower job so of course they're sticking with unemployment until the right job comes along. Immigrants go to school for free practically so they are not in a pinch when it comes to settling for a lesser job- they don't have the student loans to pay off. If you're not working, you don't have to pay student loans, but if you begin working you have to pay and you better believe Americans are looking for a job that they can afford to have.
This hub was posted to Digg, my Facebook, Myspace - Tweeted, and I am sure I will find a few more places to post it. As far as suing the State of AZ, when I heard about that a few months back, I was appalled. What potus has ever sued one of our States....the man is totally disgusting...let him put that in the pipe I know he probably smokes too. I am told by God to pray for our leaders. I do pray that someday he will learn who the true God is....but at that point he will be burning in hell.
THe point is the finger is pointing toward Americans as lazy for not taking lower paid jobs and lower type of jobs, but they can't afford it. If they can't make enough money it makes more sense to not work because they don't have to pay on student loans and they could receive unemployment. It's not right that Americans education costs so much and immigrants go for free.
Also, it's the small business owners that are hiring immigrants for less pay- they're cutting costs and doing things illegal by hiring people with bad SS card and ID or none at all. People blame big business for taking jobs overseas but small business owners are hiring the same way- immigrants from other countries who reside here but work for less pay. Its basically the same thing. It just totally fires me up.
Laura, to my knowledge Arizona is the only state to make the use of E-verify for new hires a law. There is supposedly a huge fine for not using the system, but I have not heard of any company being fined yet. I hired my son, I had to run him through E-verify even though I was pretty darn sure he was a citizen of this country. The system is free to use, and I'm told is 97% accurate. Why have other states not made the use of this system a law?
You spoke about small business hiring illegals to do work because it is cheaper. Now what if you were a farmer, or orchard owner, you had crops that must be picked, and nobody responded to your help wanted ad? Would you let the crops rot in the field or would you hire some people ready and willing to do the work? Do you think anyone drawing an unemployment check would give that up to labor 14 hours a day in a field with 100 plus degree temperatures? I doubt it seriously.
Back to my original question, why is Arizona the only state I know of to make E-verify a law? Could it possibly be they know many undesirable jobs would go unfilled while waiting for someone to run out their unemployment and be desperate enough to take the job? I really don't think the intent of most small business is to get cheaper labor, they just need people to do the work.
I run a small business and I do not, nor have I ever hired any illegals. I have placed help wanted ads for good paying jobs and gotten zero response because I state right in the ad the applicants will be drug tested and must have a valid drivers license. I'm not picking on you, just telling you how it is in Arizona. I can't speak for the rest of the states.
Jim, that is funny, our minds must work alike. The good thing about E-verify is it catches those fake SS numbers where hundreds of people are using the same number.
Now for a question. When the Feds are receiving hundreds of SS withholding payments for the same SS number, would that not raise a red flag even to them? I would think the system would be setup to where alarm bells would start ringing and lights flashing. Even they must know that one individual doesn't have over 100 jobs at the same time? Now could it be they are just happy to collect the money knowing they will probably never have to pay any of it back to an individual? Of course a smart guy would be the first to file for SS using this number which has been funded by 100 or so workers?
Jim, it is just interesting that a computer system that tracks millions of people could not tell it was receiving hundreds of payments on the same SS number. I think I smell a rat here.
Old Poolman: The issue you just mentioned was brought up by me about a year ago, the flack I received from it was merciless as people did not believe until they started doing the research on it. If any of us even tried to get another social, I am not sure what would happen to us. But that person up there seems to have had no challenges getting a new one any time he pleases. I am just going to bet these are all forged somehow too. And after reading breakfastpops' hub this morning, I was again livid. If you have not read it, please go do so now. The way it is going, true Americans will soon be rare to find. And this in itself is totally disgusting.
Straightforward and you tell it like it is, a man after my own heart. I saw this video a while back and got so mad, now I just expect things like this. Pretty sad I know. Ive spent so much energy trying to tell people about the real BHO, it just kept me mad. I have to remind myself that God uses all things for His purpose. Let's not forget to pray for our leaders (good or bad)
Pants, Very nice piece, and laid out wonderfully. I'll tell you what this country really needs, Calvin Cooledge. Obama = Woodrow Wilson, Reagan = Calvin Cooledge. I want Cal back. The man knows how to say NO!
So what's doing with Iowa? H
As many people on this thread know, I am a hard core liberal. Ok maybe not, at all, in the least, not even a tiny iota.
The border issue is amongst some of the very principles I live by, I've seen this man slander the bible, and undregoe to impose an economically crippling healthcare plan into effect. Until now I never knew that other countries could actually sue a state. I wonder if that has ever even been done.
Tsk..tsk.. Obama should never try to be a commedian, his delivery sucks. That speech was given to a group of democrates. Obama had just explained the massive increase on the boarder demanded by the republicans. but they refused to come to an agreement on any immigration bill. Obama has capitulated to everything they demanded..and then some..There have been more deportations during his administration than any other president. The government has found some agents making money by looking the other way. The democrates have been trying to get the republicans on board..everyone blames Obama, but he needs the republicans vote to pass any immigration bill. The bill might not be the best, but in contains everything the republicans demanded..yet they will not sign on. I don't like Obama and his meally ways..but truth is truth.
People are always good leaders/presidents/CEOs n all that when they are sitting on the bench...people should get over it...we all know what lies below it all....He is leading a Nation and doing much better than most people would if they were to be sitting on the hot seat((being president))
wish you put a link to your new web site thanks say it like it is
Jim, I read with some interest your comment to afrykanqwin. It is very interesting that someone with no dog in this fight would be touting the great job our POTUS is doing for this country. It would be even more interesting to draw her out and find out what facts she is using to judge the great performance she credits this President with.
Like you I suspect the only thing going is the Kenya connection.
Jim, she probably is cool, but her statement in regards to the progress our POTUS has made is most likely without any facts. This would be as crazy as us commenting on political issues in Kenya which we know nothing about. I can't think of even one thing that is better since this President took office. If anyone knows of any, and has some facts to back it with, please share with the rest of us.
Pants, I would like to say where he belongs, but the FBI would be at my door. Oh there they are now, I'm coming! H
Something I wonder about. Why did Obama spend so much money to beef up security on our Northern border. it really is money wasted that could of been spent on the Southern Border. You never here about Canadians Sneaking across the border to work without permits and staying using up the welfare system having children here for free or using our schools ect. Why spend the resources and the money?? been wondering about this. is it because he is so worried about acting bias. How about your opinion on this
I'll agree that he hasn't done much to solve this countries problems, but then again the previous president did leave this country in shambles and it will take a lot longer than 4 years to fix this mess.
You want a great website to look at try this one I listen every morning, they also have a radio show on xm. Quinn and Rose on http://www.warroom.com/
No not real war. Its good though
I was born in Africa but as it says on my page am also from Knoxville. Ok let me just say that alot of it comes fown to people placing tags on pther people's capabilities...in this case a Black President...even Donald Trump finally smelled the coffee and came to his senses.
*TYPOS IN PREVIOUS POST*One man's meat is another man's poison...thats why we have different ideologies...I respect your opinion...and well I am Kenyan American
Pants, With all these comments you don't need mine, but I will secretly share a little. It is all very plain and simple, our President may be the "greatest liar" of all time. I'm so sick of people believing in him, they must get entitlements, belong to a union or be insane.
I know it's difficult to understand which way I lean, but I'll tell you one day. H
Pants, Be happy I don't drive. H
Oh, editorials are wonderful things, aren't they? At least we share one viewpoint: George W. Bush is pathetic. Dude! Anyway, it doesn't do us much good to bemoan the face that we never seem to elect the right man or woman. Since, for the most part, only Republicans or Democrats can get elected, we don't have much choice, do we? Moreover, except for social and economic issues, they pretty much vote the same way. The wars continue, etc. Only radical change can save this country, and that won't happen, will it? Cool to meet you, man. Later!
Jim
You got a great run on this hub.
opinionduck has been permanently banned, without reason or notice so I guess I will miss commenting on your hubs.
This time I got on without an account.
Keep up the great work... quack
Pants, I have to say, this is your best. Today a Rasmussen poll said only 23% of the people think Obama is doing a good job, 46% say he is doing a bad job. We are beginning to see some Liberal's sway away from this immitation President.
I can see you don't need help. Just bring an Obama blow-up doll, and seat it on a sit down toy.
I hope you got my e-mail on the Supreme Court. H

I'm one of the smart liberals (or conservatives, I'll let you decide which), who wants to solve some problems. I'm taking a look at your link. There's some really solid thinking in this hub, Jim.
